Messages you have assigned a label (or more than one) in Gmail on the web will appear in folders in Outlook for Mac. Likewise, if you copy a message in Outlook to a folder, it will appear under the corresponding label in Gmail; if you move a message, it will be removed from the corresponding label (or the inbox) in Gmail. If you have turned on 2-step authentication for the Gmail account, create a new application password for Outlook for Mac and use that. Leave Configure automatically checked. Click Add Account.

As long as Outlook is able to find the server information (and with Gmail it always should), your window should look something like the screenshot below. • Fill out the “Account description” and “Full name” fields. When you’re using a Gmail account there’s no reason Outlook shouldn’t find this information easily. If you do run into any issues, though, check out on getting Gmail set up in Outlook 2011. Note on Labels If you see any errant folders in Outlook, you can remove them by hiding them from IMAP in the Labels section of Gmail’s Settings page. Remember that while you see them as folders, Gmail considers them labels.

I can't find anything that even says that I'm synced with google untill a sync alert comes up that says 'syncing with google contacts will change more than 25% of your contacts or groups on this computer.' It wont let me stop the sync it just gives me the option to sync now or sync later. This is very annoying, it happens about 6 or 7 times throughout the day.

I was set up in Win 10 as an IMAP, so I was fully aware that the IMAP worked fine. However, after getting my whole account (3.5GB) to sync, I noticed that my Gmail IMAP subfolders were not syncing. Sending and receiving via IMAP worked great, but the subfolders were not syncing. I called Apple — they said it was a server issue.

I saw it when I was first doing a setup and it seemed too complicated. Rocknblogger put me on the right track. The only problems I still have are with the calendar - I can't figure out why some things are synching to my Google Calendar and others are not. Microsoft Office 2011 includes Outlook for Mac systems. The above steps will work for most people, but if you want to further configure your email settings, read on. The “Advanced” panel has three tabs for you to configure: “Server,” “Folders” and “Security.” The “Server” panel allows you to control how your email server will behave. The “Folders” panel lets you manage how your Outlook 2011 folders behave. The “Security” panel lets you specify your very own digital signature and encryption.

Just a thought, but I do not believe this issue is directly as a result of your username and password being wrong. It is the way that Mac Outlook deals with the Gmail 'Too many simultaneous connections' error. I was also getting these username/password errors and would just keep pressing NO and after a couple of times it would connect proving my username and password were correct all along. Gmail has set their system up to fail as it only allows 15 simultaneous connections and refuse to do anything about it. If you have several devices setup to use your Gmail account, then this number is easily reached. Along with slow synching issues by Mac Outlook, which is another well known issue, I stopped using it.
