If your transactions have more than 30 split lines, create new transactions to accommodate the excess split lines. • Make sure that all online transactions have been accepted into the register, and that the Download Transactions window contains no outstanding transactions. • Delete all pending online payments. • Select the List menu, and select Securities. All securities should have an uppercase ticker symbol associated with them. If a security does not have a symbol associated with it, its price history will not be exported.

Intuit sent a link for me to click on leading to a page where I could type in a case number they provided, my email, and a PIN they provided. Once I did that, I was to upload a compressed version of my Quicken Data file according to directions they gave. This all worked very well. Found my data file on my hard drive by looking for a file that had the extension.qdfx. Compressed it, attached it to the Quicken site by following the easy directions, and the next morning, got an email with directions for downloading my now modified-for-Quicken Essentials data. Followed the Quicken Essentials instructions for moving that data into my new program. It took about 8 to 10 minutes to transfer, and I thought I was in the clear.

UPDATE: With my data file that has over a hundred accounts I was never able to get a very good import because Quicken's handling of transfers always messed things up. So recently I took a different approach that proved a lot more successful.

It sounds like from your previous answers that 2006 will run On my computer (I hope)I knew someday my computer would be obsolete, but have been putting off buying a new one until I absolutely had to. Looks like that day has come, no one is supporting power pc anymore. I know getting a new computer will be a good thing but lack of money really has been the reason it hasn’t happened before now. Losing all my old money info would really hurt, thanks for any help you can offer •.

Perhaps you could “borrow” a MS Money disk from someone and install it on a temporary basis, just for the conversion. I think you would not have a guilty conscience under these circumstances. Or (maybe foolish of me to even think this) could the MS or Quicken support people have some way to help you? Thanks forthe comeback Michael.

I have 10 years of info that I can’t export in a decent format. I wonder if there is any chance of a lawsuit relating to MS in essence holding my data hostage and not giving me adequate access to it. I have been a MS Money user since 1997 or so and I have entered all my data going back 32 years! So my MS Money file covers pretty much my entire financial life. It’s about 30 MB.

This is fine unless it’s a stock or fund that’s no longer traded, or otherwise not recognized, in which case Quicken can’t find prices. Quicken also sometimes doesn’t seem to download older price data (like more than about 5 years old). It’s possible to export the prices stored in the MSMoney file, but it requires an export/import operation. In some cases I was also able to manually import the data from financial websites into Quicken. I also have nearly 20 years of data on Microsoft Money Plus and spend a considerable amount of time with it each day. My file is nearly 50 MB and is so important to me that I also backup to multiple locations My main concern in moving to Quicken is whether information for an investment with multiple trades over time is accurate and reliable I am still using Money Plus and hoping (praying) another firm will buy it from Microsoft before the cutoff date. With the resources Microsoft invested into Money over the years, it must have tremendous value.

I predict that Intuit will eventually come out with a full featured Quicken for Mac that will run on Lion. The Apple Macintosh platform is dramatically gaining market share, especially with laptop and iPad users, where others are in decline. Intuit is a good company and will certainly respond to that. I hope this is helpful to someone.
